The magical beings became the new evolution of humans. Magical Beings occurred through the tapping into the mana sources, previously unexplored and unknown. In doing this it caused an opening into unknown planes of existence, thus sending new birth defects, mutations, into the human world, thus creating the new type of beings.

 

Those who were born into these mutations gained magic, longer life, new ideas of hierarchy. Those who were once human and touched by the outer became mutations of themselves. Unfortunately these humans did not live much past 20-30 years since they were affected and none of the original mutations live any longer. Those who remain pure human are a rare species and simply were not touched by evolution.
